WEEK 1

What is body image?

For our first session, we will engage in a discussion based on a brief video documentary about self-perception. We will identify our body self-narratives and explore the ways in which we might be telling ourselves only part of a larger picture.

WEEK 2

Social Media

For week two, come prepared with your cell phones! We’ll be taking a deep dive exploring the ways in which social media and the influencers we follow impact our body image, explore triggers and find ways to balance the positive effects of social media with the harmful.

WEEK 3

Body Neutrality

For week three, we will take a hands-on approach to understanding body image on a continuum. This discussion-based group will answer the question of what body neutrality means, and will leave you with tangible skills on ways to apply neutral affirmations effectively.

WEEK 4

Body Image Intersectionality

For our final session, we will close on a therapeutic art activity, which will allow us to explore what it means to exist in your body at the intersection of your race, gender, religion, sexuality, age and other important aspects of identity. We’ll supply the materials, just bring an open mind.
